The assigned package is an integral part of the bigger project that concerns the parallel construction of an underground network that includes 6 lines with a total length of about 180 km and a total value of $ 23.5 billion.

Line 3 runs for 41.58 km, starting from the west (near the Jeddah Expressway) and ending in the east (near the National Guard Camp of Khashm El Aam) for a total of 22 built stations, divided into four different types.

The trains that will run on it will have a maximum length of 36.7 m (2 carriages), a capacity of 267 passengers and a maximum speed of 100 km/h.

The work plays a key role for the city's practicability, considering that its population is expected to increase from its current 6 million inhabitants to 8 million by 2030. The new metro will therefore reduce traffic congestion and lower pollution, since it will allow to limit the number of vehicles present on the city's streets, creating a sustainable and efficient means of transport.

The project adopts the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) standard for two stations under construction (Western Station and Downtown Station). The LEED standard is the energy and sustainability certification standard most widely used in the world, a system that evaluates sustainable infrastructure recognizing the achievement of certain credits in the different areas of sustainability upon achieving particular requirements.
